Consultant Anaesthetist, January 2019 - Present
I am a full-time substantive consultant in paediatric and adult anaesthesia at the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, and work across the two hospital sites (although I am primarily based at Ipswich Hospital, Suffolk). I provide expert clinical care for children and adults undergoing elective and emergency surgery.
Clinical Experience
I have been a doctor for 18 years; 14 years as an anaesthetist and 5 years as a consultant in paediatric and adult anaesthesia. I have undertaken additional specialist paediatric anaesthetic training. I now provide anaesthetic care for paediatric and adult patients in an approximately one-third/two-third split, and average around 300 cases per year. I regularly anaesthetise children for ENT, urological and ophthalmological surgery. My adult work centres on the high risk patient for vascular surgery (e.g. sub-diaphragmatic aorto-aneurysm repairs), emergency general surgery (e.g. laparotomy for visceral obstruction or perforation) and trauma surgery (e.g. fractured neck of femur).

I am the lead anaesthetist for paediatric anaesthetic services.

I undertake regular preoperative assessment clinics for both children and adults.

I am a GMC-certified trainer and educational supervisor
